Candace Hill, a sophomore from Rockdale County, Ga., ran 10.98 to become the first American high schooler to run under 11 seconds in the 100m. The previous national record was a massive .12 slower, as Kaylin Whitney ran 11.10 last year. Hill's time is also the American Junior Record, a World Youth best and ranks #10 in the World this year. For comparison's sake, that would rank #8 all-time in the NCAA.
She broke the 11 second mark about two years earlier than expected.
